    Birdwatching for Kids in Sedayu Bantul

    Many ways and theories about conservation, but action is far more needed than simply defining the theory of conservation. The Bionic Bird Observer Group Yogyakarta State University (KPB Bionic UNY) has a program called Birdwatching for Kids, where this activity is usually done at the KKN site as an individual work program.
    The purpose of Birdwatching for Kids is so that children who follow this activity can learn to care about the environment, love nature and recreation. The benefits of this activity include as an effort to conserve nature, especially birds, cultivate awareness of the environment and other ways of learning in the fun of the lam. 

    In this even semester KKN, there are at least 3 students who carry out Birdwatching for Kids at their KKN location. They are Desi Dwi Ariyanti, Fitria Permatasari and Ika Nur Rahma located in Sedayu, Bantul. 

    The first activity on Sunday (2/4), was in two locations at once at Gunung Polo and Dusun Argomulyo Sedayu Bantul. Participants who participated in this activity a total of 26 children with guides from KPE Bionic UNY as many as 7 people. At the end of the activity, the children were asked to tell the birds they had observed. Some species of birds encountered include Bondol Jawa / Javan Munia, Kuntul Kerbau / Cattle Egret, Elangular bido / Crested Serpent Eagle, Javan Kingfisher, Olive-backed Sunbird. 

    The second activity was held on Saturday (8/4) at Surobayan Argomulyo Sedayu Bantul with 64 participants and guides as many as 7 people from Bionic KPU UNY. Birdwatching for Kids activities this time combined with games that one of them is to arrange birds puzzle. 

    One of the guides, Aghnan Pramudihasan said that Bionic UNY will prepare the material in the form of bird observation booklets and guides to help condition the children who follow Birwatching for Kids activities. Obstacles experienced in this activity is the number of binoculars binoculars owned Bionic UNY still limited so have to borrow from other campus. 

    "The children looked enthusiastic when listening to explanations on how to use binoculars binoculars and bird watching. They also look enthusiastic when memprektekkan directly using binoculars binoculars although sometimes confused themselves because they are not used, "he added. 

    The booklet created by KPB Bionic UNY contains an explanation of birdwatching, bird watching, an observation table that provides a place for drawing birds and coloring pages of birds. In the final page, there is a kind of problem in which children are asked to match the shape of a bird's beak with its food and various forms of bird's legs with its bird species.
